WPS

Yesterday, I headed to Oxford, MS to see the Hogs play with my brother (Tyler), nephew (Will), my brother's friend (Jeff), and Jeff's son (Nathan). It was an absolutely beautiful day. Perfect for a football game. It was my first trip to Oxford and I must say that I really liked the town. Very quaint and charming and the campus was beautiful. Lots of hills...not what you'd typically think of for a Mississippi landscape. And "the Grove" was pretty amazing. Tents as far as you could see all full of tailgaters. And that's pretty amazing by itself, but what's more amazing is how elaborate the spreads are. Some of the tents were decked out like mini wedding receptions as far as decor and presentation were concerned. It was amazing. Those Rebels sure know how to have a good time and do so in style! It was some great people-watching! We had a great time, although the game was a little more stressful than we had hoped, but a "W" is a "W" and we were glad to get it! A big thanks to James for keeping the kids ALL day so that I could go. Wooo Pig Soooie!

This one I just had to include. I mean, look at her waist. Really???

Pumpkin Patch

We had the best time at the pumpkin patch this weekend. The weather was beautiful and we were able to get a few photos of the kids. It's no easy task to get a good photo of a 3 year old and 6 month old, and I'm not sure we succeeded, but we tried. This was a great little place at Shelby Farms next to the Farmer's Market barn. It's not very big, but they've got TONS of pumpkins to choose from and have a lot of set ups for cute pics. If you're looking for a good place to go, check it out. And thank you to my neighbor, Janna, for telling us about it!

Happy Fall Y'all!

6 Month Stats

Emery went in for her six month check up today and got a good report. She's still growing and doing all of the things she's supposed to be. Her stats were as follows:

Height: 25.75" (50%)
Weight: 15.5 lbs. (50%)

We just whole-heartedly started solid foods this week. So far she's had a sweet potato and some banana and both were a hit. Next up, green peas and carrots. Since I'm staying at home now, I'm trying to make as much baby food as I can. I feel like that if I have the time, I might as well give it a try. I have a little food processor that works great. So far so good. We'll see how long it lasts! :)

Since we were already at the doc with E today, Case and I both got our flu shots. Now, the entire Nowlin house has been vaccinated, so hopefully we will avoid the flu this winter. Case was a real champ. Just hopped right up on the table and took his shot like a real pro. Of course, I'm sure it helped that I promised him a Chick-fil-a milkshake afterward! Emery took her shots like a pro too, but it still kills me every time! And we went first thing this morning, so she was feeling kind of icky all day. She wasn't fussy, just tired. She wanted to cuddle all day! What a shocker! This girl never wants to cuddle and refuses to let me rock her. I spent nearly the whole day rocking her and I must say that I enjoyed every single minute of it. I didn't get around to any of the housework I had intended to do, but that was quite alright. What a sweetie! I'm sure she'll be back to her non-cuddly self tomorrow, sigh....

Busy Busy

Not much to say, but not because there hasn't been much to do. We've been very busy this past week. Been to Mtn. View to see my family, decorated the house for fall, painted the dining room and did other more regular things. Big thanks to the in-laws for slaving away for a few days painting and doing electrical work! We are so thankful for such good help! Now I'm hoping to take it easy for few days!

I wish I had taken a before pic so all could really appreciate all the work that was done. There was a hideous pink granite buffet shelf from 1972 that we took down and we painted all the woodwork, including the windows. It took every bit of two days an I can't take much of the credit. The door is also sporting a new knob. It's unbelievable what a difference something as simple as a new door knob can make. We've now replaced four of the lovely brass knobs and have about 30 more to go! Progress!
