#12

Happy 12th Birthday to our favorite son! Here's to hoping that you special day turns out better than my cake!

Case,

Happy 12th Birthday, bud! We know it was a strange birthday (thanks to Covid) but we still enjoyed the excuse to celebrate you! You have changed so much in the last year ... having shot up in height for one! This year you couldn't think of anything to ask for so we surprised you with a new scooter. This sort of sums up your personality. You are pretty low maintenance ... never really asking for much. Contentment is such an admirable quality and is one of the things we love most about you.

One can still find you most days reading or playing video games (that hasn't changed much). You love to sing (we are disappointed that Covid pushed back your musical debut as Simba in the Lion King) and are trying your hand at a few new things this year, including football and band (playing the trumpet). It's also great to see you stepping into some leadership roles on your soccer team and at school as a Campus Life Ambassador. We've always recognized great leadership qualities in you and are proud to see you using those to help lead your peers in a positive way.

We love you so much and look forward to living this last pre-teen year with you.

Wrapping up Summer & Back to School 2020

A couple of notable things happened to wrap up our Covid summer ....

Caseman got his braces on. He looks so different to me ... so grown. I wasn't expecting that!

Emery and I traveled to Birmingham, AL for a 3 v 3 soccer tournament with some of her club teammates. They lost every game but had a blast! It was really a lot of fun having a girls weekend!

Malone, Sadie, Emery, Louise and Jo

We had a back to school open house to meet the kids' teachers.

Emery is in 4th grade and has a new teacher, Mrs. Henry. We are excited about a great year ahead!

Case has moved on up to middle school and has a bunch of different teachers. I was only able to grab a pic of him with one of them ... Mr. Cunningham, his Western Civilization teacher.

Mario left for Central Christian College of Kansas. We were sad to see him go and will miss him around the house, but super excited for his Junior year!

And then it was the actual first day of school. 6th and 4th grade ... let's do it!

I'm so thankful to go to work everyday and be with these kiddos. I'm especially loving Case being in the upper school. I get to see him multiple times throughout the day every day since my office is right in the middle of things. It's going to be a weird year but we are grateful to be at Harding!
