We had a great time celebrating Case's 11th birthday. We celebrated a bit early with my parents who were in town to help out during inservice week.
Case's big gift was a new bike! Many thanks to GPW for putting it together for him. He loves it!
And then his actual birthday was on Sunday (and the day before school starts). After church we met friends at the JCC for some pizza, cupcakes and lots of time in the pool because it was HOT!
Case,
Happy 11th, buddy! Your dad and I think you're the best! Your favorite things haven't changed much ... you still love soccer, basketball, riding your bike, reading (I think you read like 10 novels this summer), playing Xbox, watching YouTube videos, Marvel movies and antagonizing your sister. Your favorite place to eat is Chipotle and you also love my cooking. Your competitive spirit has really ramped up in the last year. Not sure where you get that from. :) And you can be incredibly stubborn. Not sure where you get that from either. You're also a very thoughtful kid ... always interested in what's happening in the lives around you and checking in on those that are having a tough time. I've recently taught you how to play "Double Sol" as Mimi would call it (aka Double Solitaire). We've spent several hours this summer at the table playing together and it's been so much fun. I look forward to many more games in our future. Your dad and I are grateful and proud to be your parents and we pray that this next year is the best yet, filled with lots of joy and laughs and opportunities for learning and growth.
The second half of summer flew by just as fast, if not faster, than the first half. We packed it in with as much summer fun as we possibly could and checked off more items from our summer bucket list.

Family fun downtown before fireworks
Case went to his first overnight soccer camp in Oxford, MS. He had a great time and somehow survived without his momma. Funny story on this is that we actually drove down a month earlier for this camp and realized his buddy, Tucker was registered for the July camp. So we asked to move Case's registration to the July week instead. So we drove all the way to Oxford, got his bed made and his clothes put away, only to pack it all back up and come back to Memphis and do it all over again in July. I thought James was going to kill me. I'm sure one day we will be able to laugh about it.

Best thing about summer ... impromptu trips to the movie at 8 p.m. Lion King in IMAX was fantastic!
