What a Week...Ending with a Birthday Party

So last week was a bit crazy to say the least. Last weekend Case developed severe diaper rash, and I mean it was awful! It was so bad on Sunday night that we knew he couldn't go to school, so James' parents came to the rescue so James and I could go into work. I took off and stayed home with him on Tuesday and a half a day Wednesday and it still hadn't improved enough for him to go back to school, so my mom came to keep him the rest of the week. Thank goodness she's retired and could come help us out. She was a lifesaver!!

Yesterday we finally "officially" celebrated Case's birthday. My mom was still here and was joined by James' parents, my oldest nephew, Will, Uncle Sneeder, Kevin Redd, Ms. Priscilla and my dad (via video conference). My brother and my cousin, Trey, also stopped in for a few minutes on their way to Mississippi. There were a lot of people in our house, but it was fun. **Note to self...second b-day party to be held off-site...

Here are some of the pics...

Cupcake stand stacked with delicious cupcakes from Muddy's...yummy!!

Hangin' out with Kevin Redd.

I WANT MY CUPCAKE! NOW!

Checking it out good...

Deciding if he likes it or not...

I think he liked it quite a bit!

The icing was a bit sour on this one...

He clearly wasn't overly interested in opening his presents at first.

Worn out from all the action! He took a three hour nap afterward!

Sucker

I know I've been horrible about keeping my blog up lately. I'm going to make a real effort to do better. Things have been pretty busy lately, but not in a bad way. Today Case went for his one year doctor's appointment. He checked out perfectly...nearly 24 lbs. and 31" long. He's still in the 90th percentile for height, so we're hoping that means that he will be tall! :) He did have to get three shots, which is never fun, but the nurse went so super fast that it was over in 10 seconds. I made James come with me for moral support! Case did get a sucker and that helped divert his attention away from the pain. It was the first real sweet treat he has ever had and needless to say, he loved it! He drooled all over himself! Here are a few cut pics...

When I picked him up this afternoon to take him to the doc, he was still snoozing away during nap time and so I was able to snag a pic on my phone of him sleeping on his mat. He was out cold and had been out for 2 1/2 hours! His new room really wears him out!

Not a Baby Anymore!

On Monday, Case officially moved up to Nursery III at his day care. I've had a lot of mixed feelings about it. He now only has one nap a day, instead of two, and he takes it on the floor on his "Happy Nappy" mat instead of in a crib. And, he only eats real food from the cafeteria...no more baby food. It makes my job easier in the morning, but can it really be possible that he's old enough for this???? Well, it's now day three and I think that he in fact is ready. He's had a great first few days. He loves the new room and all the new toys, he loves going outside every day, he loves the big people food and he even konks out on the floor and sleeps on his mat, much to my surprise! It's official, my baby is no longer a baby! Begin tears....

Here is a pic of him on his first day sitting at the table in his chair like a big boy about to eat his waffle!

Catching Up

I know, I know. It's been a long time...but I'm back. I hope to be better about my blogging. This past weekend we went to Dyersburg for one of James' cousin's weddings. Below are a few pics...

Case with Pa Neal

I tried so hard to get a good family pic and this was as good as it got...
Case on the rocking hoarse that my Papaw made...

I made birthday cupcakes for Case to take to school. They actually turned out to be quite delicious, much to my surprise! I'm not much of a baker!
Next up, pics from Case's new room at school. He's not a baby anymore!!!
