Springtime!

It's officially Spring, although much of last week felt more like summer and today feels like winter again! But we aren't complaining. We've had a lot of fun so far this season!

First trip of the season to Jerry's Sno Cones! YUM-O!

Park fun and feeding the ducks with friends
And the Highland Day School Spring Program! We were so proud of Case and Emery for their wonderful performances. I love how Case had been practicing his songs all week long and would just sing at the top of his lungs in the car and at home for us. But once he was on the spot up on stage in front of all of those people, he got a bit of stage-fright and mostly mumbled and grinned in between lyrics. So funny! Oh well. The performance arts may not be his thing...

The highlight of the night was James (and Emery) leading the closing prayer. James was asked to lead the closing prayer and of course when Emery saw him, she wanted to go to him, so he scooped her right up. All throughout the prayer, Em kept trying to get ahold of the microphone and at one point stuck her mouth right on it and let out a very loud "AHHHHH." It was completely distracting and absolutely melted my heart! I'm sure the Lord didn't mind a little help from Emery Anne. The prayer was on behalf of all those sweet kids and the wonderful adults that help care for them every day, after all! I only wish I had caught it all on video. I thought it might be weird to video the prayer and had just turned my video camera off. What was I thinking??? Something I want to remember....always!

We. Are. So. Blessed.

Two Year Stats

Em went to se Dr. Bubba today for her 2Y check-up! It was the first time that she has been weighed and measured like a big girl. She stood on those scales and backed herself up to the wall like a champ. No more baby...sniff sniff ... It just about kills me! And no shots at today's check up! Hallelujah!

She got a glowing report. Still growing and learning everything just like she's supposed to. Her 2Y stats are as follows:

Height: 33.5" (50%)
Weight: 24 lbs. (25%)

So adorable I could just squeeze her to pieces!

TWO

Happy 2nd Birthday today, to our sweet girl! Can. Not. Believe. It.

Emery, there are so many thing to report on you! You are a mess, girl! Into everything all the time. We've already had to call poison control three times in your short toddler hood...from you being able to get the childproof lid off of the children's ibuprofen to even opening up a jar of fish bait at your Poppy Whit's! You are a MESS! But we love every single bit of you! And every second of the day you are either making me laugh historically or you are frustrating me to no end (like when you nearly ruined the carpet with the Resinol)! There's not really anything in between with you. And I could just eat you up sometimes you are so cute and funny!

You've turned into such a sweet little momma. You love to dress and undress your babies...over and over and over again! And you really like to change their diapers and have them sit on the big girl potty like you do! In fact, you love all things baby related. I should have kept all of my baby gear because when we were visiting your cousin Hadley you spent a lot of your time sitting in her swing, her bouncer and in her exersaucer!

You really love to play dress up...trying on your new swimsuits, summer outfits, mommy's shoes and even putting on Bubba's underwear and pajamas! I caught you in his room the other day and you had taken of your pants and diaper and had put on four pairs of his underwear on! So funny!!

And you are so independent...or think your are. You're most common phrase is, "I DO IT, I DO IT!" You want to change your own diaper, put on your own clothes, wash your own hands, brush your own teeth, buckle your own car seat, etc! You just want to do everything yourself! And the worst it when you want to pick out your own outfit for the day! Your opinion and mine do not always match up and we have to battle it out! A sign of many things to come, I'm afraid...sigh....

You still don't like to travel much. Being restrained in your car seat just really doesn't appeal to you. Hoping you start to grow out of that a little bit before our first long(ish) road trip in the fall. And it shouldn't be a surprise that you don't even really love to watch TV that much. It is just difficult for you to be still for very long. The only time I can get you to lay down and watch an entire 30 minute episode of Dora is at night after bath. And I know the only reason you will do it then is because you know that the alternative is having to to bed! You're no dummy!

We are so blessed to have you in our lives, Emery Anne! You bring us so much joy! Can't believe that you are already two years old! I wish time would slow down and that I could bottle up some of your extreme cuteness! We love you so much, sweet girl!

Happy Birthday!!

Easter 2013

Easter was super fun this year! We started off celebrating at Highland Day School on Thursday. The kids hunted eggs and got their pics taken with the Easter Bunny. It was a beautiful day, perfect for the day's festivities! And after a week of freezing cold temps, it was perfect timing!

Case with his buddy, Cole

Case's class

Not sure about all of this at first....

We bribed her with chocolate!

On Good Friday, we flew to Austin Texas to see James' sister, Sarah, and her family. James' parents had driven down earlier in the week so we were all together for the long weekend and we had the best time. The kids absolutely loved playing together, I enjoyed being a baby hog and we all just enjoyed spending quality time together. Wish we could see them more often!

It was Emery's first time on an airplane and she did great but we were very thankful for a very brief and direct flight! :)

Watching a little Dora

Did I mention how great the kids played together? There really was no fighting over toys or attention. Just a lot of playing hard and having a ball! It is such a blessing having so many cousins close in age.

Emery and Eli made fast friends.  Eli never let her leave his sight. Sweet cousins!!

Case got a shiner on the very first day playing so hard. Didn't phase him for a second!

Eli (3), Emery (2), Greyson (5), Hadley (5M), Case (4)

And of course one of the main reasons we were there was to meet our five month old niece, Hadley! Oh. My. Goodness. She was the sweetest and best behaved baby I have EVER been around. She might have gone the entire weekend without crying. All she does is smile.  Love this little miracle baby so much! We are so thrilled to finally have another girl in the family!

Two words...BABY FEVER!
And as if we didn't have enough to celebrate, we squeezed in a little early birthday celebration for Emery. Aunt Sarah even ordered her a Dora cake which was a huge hit!

Uncle Blake finally won her over.

Maw Maw and all her grandkids ready for bed

Ready for a back yard egg hunt

All dressed up for Easter Sunday. This was as good as it got. Sigh...
It was a very Happy Easter, indeed!
