Birthday Party!
Wowzers! I'm still recovering from a big weekend celebrating Case's third birthday! I now know why parents have birthday parties at Chuckie-Cheese's and other such places. Having a party at your house is a lot of trouble, but I must say it was worth it all. Case had such a great time and so did we! We are so blessed to have so many great friends in this city!
Case was terrified of the water slide. James finally forced him to go down it on his lap and he cried the whole time. When he got to the bottom you could tell it wasn't as scary as he anticipated, but he quickly let us know that he did NOT want to go again. James forced him to go once more and it wasn't any better. I hope it didn't traumatize the poor kid for life!
A very big THANK YOU to my parents who came several days in advance to help us prepare. My dad slaved away on getting our yard looking better than ever and my mom watched my kiddos while I ran errands and got things ready. We couldn't have done it without them! James' parents came down early too to lend a hand and it took all of us!
And then we had the special treat of my brother and his family joining us for the night, so we just continued the celebration over in to Sunday. It was a great time had by all!

These next three pics were taken by my neighbor, Cami Fields, with her awesome camera. You can certainly see the difference. Gotta get me one.

Four Month Stats
Emery went to the pediatrician this past week for her four month check up and shots and we got a good report. She's growing and doing all of the things she should be.
Weight: 13.5 lbs. (50%)
Height: 24.5 in. (70%)
And while Emery hated getting her shots, I believe that Case rather enjoyed it. He just kept asking if she was going to get her shots and if she was going to cry and after telling him "yes, she is" and "yes, she will" over and over again, I finally asked him if he was happy that Emery was going to get her shots and cry, and he said "YES." Oh, the big brother taking pleasure seeing his sister in pain. A sign of many things to come, I'm sure....
But she bounced back in no time. These pics were taken when we got back home. She was her usual smiley self!

Happy Birthday, Case!
Today, our first born turned 3. I can't believe it. Seems like it was just yesterday that we were at the hospital admiring his precious tiny self and wondering how we could love someone so much. And now he is a whopping 3 years old with the vocabulary and verbal skills of a 60 year old man!
He had a good birthday, I think. I attempted to bake some cookies last night for him to take to school and share with his class and they turned out awful. Reminiscent of rice cakes. Yuck! What can I say? I tried. I don't know why. Baking has never been my thing. So anyway, James headed out at 9PM last night to pick up some Schnuck's cupcakes for us to take instead.
He was so excited walking in to the CEC and he proudly told all of his friends and his teachers that today was his birthday and that he had brought cupcakes.
Then after James got home from work and we had dinner together as a family, we headed outside to give him his present. A big boy bicycle. He was so excited, but he was a little intimidated by it and ended up back on his little tricycle. Oh well. I'm sure it won't be too long until he's brave enough to try the bike again!
His party is going to be next weekend, so we've got more celebrating to look forward to!
Happy Birthday, Case! We love you, buddy!

Lately
Life's been pretty low key lately. Been kind of nice. We've been spending most of our time indoors and out of the oppressive heat! And no surprise, Emery is growing by leaps and bounds. She now chills in the Bumbo.
And plays in the Jumperoo...
She smiles a lot. Such a happy baby now!
She's discovered her feet and playing with them is her new favorite activity.

And they are tasty!

And we must not forget about the big bro who is also growing like a weed. He will celebrate his 3rd birthday next week. Where has the time gone?
