Fun (and wet) weekend

We really enjoyed a weekend visit from Nana and Poppy Wheat last weekend.

Emery kicked things off with some spa services in her "beauty shop."

Emery's turn for some pampering from Nana.

Beyblade battles

Case's soccer team was playing in a tournament so there was a lot of soccer playing and cheering! The weather on Saturday was absolutely beautiful!

The weather on Sunday ... not so beautiful. But it was worth braving the rain and mud because our  team won and Case scored a goal to make it 3-2 in the second half! It was very exciting!

We love this kid ... even more than he loves soccer.

Emery Anne Turns Seven

It's official ... we have a seven year old! And I simply cannot believe it! We have enjoyed celebrating Emery on multiple occasions during her "birthday week."

We had a small party at the house with a few of her friends. It was a spa themed party and I paid these women with a traveling spa service and they did a great job. They come and set everything up, do the manicures, pedicures and facials and then pack everything up and leave. All I had to do was provide the location and food. Easy peasy!

Getting set up!

No cake, so a raspberry had to do!

And then a few days later, it was her actual birthday (and the 50 year anniversary of MLK's death). It was a busy day around the 901!

Emery - Happy 7th Birthday to you! You have brought us so much joy these past seven years! Some things of note about you are ....

  • you love to sleep in (like your momma)
  • you are always happy and often skip instead of walk to get to your desired destination
  • gymnastics is your favorite extracurricular activity
  • you keep this house a mess with all your crafting and creative experimentation (Mom's trash is always your treasure)
  • you love school and have really developed a love of reading recently (making Dad proud)
  • you are kind, brave and tough as nails (giving your brother a run for his money)
We couldn't love you more and we hope that you have had a memorable birthday!

Lots of love,

Mom and Dad

Easter Festivities 2018

Easter 2018 did not disappoint. We kicked things off with a Brierwood Easter Extravaganza across the street. We love our neighborhood and neighbors so so much! Such fun to do things like this together.

Completely unrelated to Easter, James surprised me with this fantastic bouquet of tulips! Just because he knows they are my favorite and in season right now! I wish they would last forever!

We had a very good Good Friday in Downtown. We walked across the new pedestrian bridge stretching the Mississippi River followed by a riverside picnic, soccer and volleyball sand pit play.

Then we had to dye easter eggs and get ready for the Easter Bunny!

 Easter morning egg hunt!
