Fire Engine No. 44

Last week we took cookies to our local fire department. I hosted a cookie exchange and had a kitchen full of leftover cookies that we couldn't possibly have eaten ourselves, so we decided to drop them off for the firemen to enjoy (thanks for the great idea, Martha)! What an experience! The lieutenant showed the kids every nook and cranny of the fire engine, even let them both crawl up in it and look around. And when we were about to head out, they got a call to report to a fire. So we got to hear the alarm over the speaker system, hear them call it in (where and what kind of fire) and then we were able to stand outside and watch them all load up, raise the doors and tear out of there with the siren on. Case was in awe of the whole thing. Thankful for those brave men and the kindness of No. 44 for their kindness and hospitality! An experience we will always remember!
