Case's 10th Birthday

How has it been a decade since this kid was born? I do not know where the time has gone. James and I were just reminiscing about when he was a baby (I may have even watched the home video of his birth the night of his birthday, after he went to bed). He was such a happy baby. We always called him a "starter baby" because he took it so easy on us and really helped us ease into the whole parenting thing. That all ended when Emery Anne came into the world, but we enjoyed it while it lasted.

Case,
Happy birthday, buddy! You were a happy and easy baby and 10 years later are still super easy-going. Some things we want to remember about you at age 10 are:
  • You are an avid reader. Reading anytime we are in the car or when you aren't in school or playing video games. Reading the biggest books I've ever laid eyes one. You are your daddy's kid in this area. Mom never loved to read as a kid. Right now you are in the middle of the Inheritance Cycle series and eagerly awaiting the release of the next Wings of Fire book.
  • You love soccer and we love watching you play. You never pass up an opportunity for an "optional" practice, even when we wish you would.
  • You're REALLY into Fortnite on the XBox and can be found playing during almost every minute of your free time at home.
  • You are friendly and outgoing and still, after 10 years on this earth, never met a stranger. Your class at church served lunch to one of the older classes and you had a lengthy and interesting conversation with Miss Betty. You made her day and we were so proud to hear how much you loved sitting and talking to her. We love that about you!

We hope that you enjoyed your special day and that you know how much we love you! Looking forward to seeing what year 10 brings your way!

Trying out the new bean bag chair he got from us!

We didn't have a "party" per say, but we did have a super fun afternoon with some of our besties (the Butlers and the Shelbys) at the pool. We had pizza delivered and shut the place down. It was a great way to end our summer!
