Smokey Mountain Vacation with Friends

We just returned from an amazing trip to the Smokey Mountains with our friends, the Wildricks. To sum it up, here's a top 10 list of things I want to be sure and remember:
  1. Almost running out of gas in downtown Knoxville. Siri really let us down.
  2. Dinner in super charming downtown Knoxville. It was my first time there and I loved it!
  3. The delicious breakfasts we had each morning at our bed and breakfast…yum!
  4. Fun late night conversations with friends
  5. The way my muscles felt after hiking 16 miles in two days
  6. The view from Charlie's Bunion
  7. The scenery on the way up to Ramsey Cascades
  8. The beauty of the Ramsey Cascades waterfall (note to self: next time bring a hammock)
  9. Our night at the movie seeing Pitch Perfect 2 (with the parol officer)
  10. The amazing hospitality we received from Janice at Creekwalk Inn

To expand on point #1...we really almost ran out of gas. Like, for real. James' Pilot gives the mile range until empty and it went from 1 down to 0 miles to empty. Thank you, Honda, for allowing just a little bit of cushion into those calculations!

The guys scoping out our plan to make it to a gas station after Siri directed us to an abandoned one.

"If the light doesn't turn green soon we are going to have to push the car into the station…"

Oh, the stress!

After filling up the tank, we headed to dinner! It was my first time to downtown Knoxville and I loved it! Super charming and bustling with activity on Saturday night!

Day 1: 8 mile roundtrip hike to Charlie's Bunion

We discovered that Lauren is quite the natural rock climber!

We discovered that I am not a natural rock climber…but I made it!

Day 2: 8 mile roundtrip hike to Ramsey Cascades

I just happened to pack a  Coke can that said "Adventurer." Quite fitting, I'd say!

Taking a little nap at the top before heading back down

The picture doesn't capture the height of the bridge. It was a bit frightening.

And of course, a big shout out to James' parents for keeping our kids for us so we could have a fun "kid-free" weekend with friends!
